WILDLIFE MIGRATION

Wildlife Migration in Tanzania and Kenya

The Serengeti Ecosystem and the Wildebeests (white-bearded gnus) and Burchell's Zebras. The wildebeest calve on the Serengeti Plains from January to March. They generally depart the Serengeti in May, where they head east and north for Lake Victoria and the Maasai Mara, crossing the Mara River around July. They leave the Mara in October-December.

DAY 1. ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK (TREE TOPS HOTEL, 4*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Upon your arrival at the Jomo Kenya International airport you will be met and transferred to the most world famous game viewing lodge that overlooks a water hole and salt lick high at 6450 feet above the sea level and within the Aberdare National Park.

Lunch will be at the Outspan then later leave for the Treetops Hotel where you will spend the evening viewing wild game in this lodge that rises straight out of the ground on stilts. It has four decks and a rooftop viewing platform. This game lodge accommodation is solely dedicated to game viewing. Dinner is imaginatively served at refectory tables with bench seating, which heightens the sense of adventure and stimulates conversation. The emphasis is on making as little noise as possible so as not to scare away the animals. For this reason, children under 5 years are not allowed at Treetops. Overnight in this game lodge where in February 1952, Princess Elizabeth became Queen on learning of the death of her father, King George V1.

DAY 2. LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK (LAKE NAKURU LODGE, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Drive into the Great Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru via the spectacular Thompson Falls arriving in time for lunch. This afternoon, enjoy game and bird watching in Lake Nakuru National Park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 3. LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK (LAKE NAKURU LODGE, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
A full day at Lake Nakuru includes morning and afternoon game drives in the park. Lake Nakuru is perhaps most famous for the over one million Greater and Lesser Flamingos that gather at the lake during various times of the year. In addition, the tens of thousands of other birds make this an ornithologist's paradise. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 4. LAKE BARINGO NATIONAL PARK (LAKE BARINGO CLUB, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Travel north and stop near Lake Bogoria to see the hot springs and geysers, then continue to Lake Baringo, a fresh water lake with over 450 species of birds. This afternoon enjoy a guided bird walk. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 5. LAKE BARINGO NATIONAL PARK (LAKE BARINGO CLUB, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Enjoy guided bird viewing before breakfast this morning. Later enjoy a boat trip on the lake. Afternoon is spent at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 6. LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK (LAKE NAIVASHA COUNTRY CLUB, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Drive via Lake Elementaita to Lake Naivasha arriving in time for lunch. A boat trip on Lake Naivasha with a visit to the Crescent Island is included this afternoon. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 7. LAKE NAIVASHA NATIONAL PARK (LAKE NAIVASHA COUNTRY CLUB, 3*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Enjoy early morning guided bird watching before breakfast. Later this afternoon, visit nearby Hell's Gate National Park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

DAY 8. MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE (MARA SOPA LODGE, 4*, MEAL PLAN IS FULL BOARD).
Leave the Rift Valley and drive to Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch. This afternoon a game drive in the Reserve. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
