WILDLIFE MIGRATION

Wildlife Migration in Tanzania and Kenya

The Serengeti Ecosystem and the Wildebeests (white-bearded gnus) and Burchell's Zebras. The wildebeest calve on the Serengeti Plains from January to March. They generally depart the Serengeti in May, where they head east and north for Lake Victoria and the Maasai Mara, crossing the Mara River around July. They leave the Mara in October-December.

TAS 45. 8 DAYS LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK, SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK, OLDUVAI GORGE, NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA, AND TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

(Departs Mondays twice a month from Nairobi)

The game parks of Tanzania are amongst the best in the world and offer some unique game viewing. Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its packs of Hunting Dogs, and a wide variety of other game. Lake Manyara lions may have developed a liking for residing in the branches of trees, where they can both sleep and watch for prey while Serengeti is where the wildebeest migration starts.

DAY 01. ARUSHA
Depart for Arusha from Nairobi by D.H.L Shuttle or our safari vehicle. Overnight in a hotel of your choice at extra cost.

DAY 02. LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara, lunch at the campsite followed by afternoon game drive.

DAY 03. SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park viewing game enroute, dinner and overnight at Seronera campsite.

DAY 04. SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Spend the day game viewing in the Serengeti with a break for lunch at the campsite. Dinner and overnight at Seronera campsite.

DAY 05. NGORONGORO VIA OLDUVAI GORGE
After an early breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro crater via Olduvai Gorge with picnic lunches. We view game enroute. Overnight Simba Campsite.

DAY 06. TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Morning crater tour and after lunch proceed to Tarangire National Park. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

DAY 07. ARUSHA
After breakfast early morning game drive followed by lunch at the campsite, then proceed to Arusha for dinner and overnight in a hotel of your choice at extra cost.

DAY 08. NAIROBI
Depart Arusha by DHL Shuttle for Nairobi or our safari vehicle.

End of the safari.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
Transport by special safari vehicle, services of an English speaking driver/tour guide and cook, all campsite fees, all camping equipment including use of our three-person tents (each tent shared by 2 people), stools, foam mattresses except sleeping bags ,three meals a day while on safari whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian prepared by our safari cook, Africa air rescue (AAR) evacuation by road and air within East Africa only, this however do not include hospitalization cost.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE.
Cultural visits to villages (can be arranged with the guide), personal travel insurance, sleeping bags (available for hire in the office at US$25 per bag per safari with US$ 50 refundable deposit) drinking water, hotel all international & domestic air flights and train bookings (but can be arranged on request), all airport taxes and visas, all personal expenses and toiletries; e.g. mineral water, toilet tissue, laundry, telephones, beverages, tips, portage, etc. and any other extras not stated as included above

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING ON SAFARI. Sleeping bag (available for hire in our office for US$ 25 per bag per safari plus a refundable deposit of US$ 50 after the safari; Tanzania/Uganda - US$ 30), money for personal spending and tipping approximately US$ 30 a day, only a small case or rucksack, as storage space is limited (maximum 20kgs), a pair of long trousers and jersey for the cool mornings and evenings in addition to plenty of light clothes for hot days (do not forget a hat), swim suit, a pillow, good walking and biking shoes and sweets, Torch, sunglasses, suntan lotion, insect repellent/spray but not mosquito coils, mineral water for drinking (available for sale in our office) Camera, films, binoculars, maps, guide-books and also darts for our dart board at Maasai Mara Toilet paper, towel, soap and toothbrush/paste, all personal travel insurance and it is good idea to bring any drinks you might want around the campfire as they are not always available enroute.
