At a glance
This Kenya safari is designed to cover only Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to East Africa’s largest black
rhino population and a must-see for Northern White Rhinos and chimpanzees. You will experience
philosophical, innovative, tangible, and sustainable conservation efforts for wildlife and people in this
renowned African conservancy.
Back from the Brink;
The southern white rhino (Ceratotherium simum) is listed as near threatened by the International Union
for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). According to the IUCN, this subspecies was on the brink of extinction
by the end of the 19th century, having been reduced to just one small population of approximately 20-
50 animals in South Africa. However, in one of the most successful collective conservation efforts of the
century, there are now thriving populations in East and Southern Africa, totaling over 20,000 animals. Ol
Pejeta Conservancy has 44 southern white rhinos.
There is actually no color difference between white and black rhinos. The name “white rhino” is said to
be a mistranslation of the Afrikaans word ‘weit’ meaning "wide," referring to their square-shaped lips
used for grazing. This is the main distinction between the white rhino and the black rhino, which has a
hooked lip for browsing. The southern white rhino is said to have the most complex social structure of
all rhino subspecies (a group of rhinos is called a crash!) and prefers open grass plains, making them
easier to spot on safari.

Days 2: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Sweetwaters Serena Camp (Fullboard)
This day will be spent in the conservancy exploring various areas of top interest. It will start with a morning game drive after tea or coffee and a snack at 06:30, continuing until 08:00, when full breakfast is served at the camp. This early morning game drive offers the highest chance of seeing predators on the hunt, as they are nocturnal, and their prey on high alert. After a rest at the camp, there will be another game drive from 10:00 until lunchtime at 13:00 at the camp. In coordination with your driver guide, who knows all the terrains well, both the morning and afternoon game drives will cover all key areas of interest in the conservancy comprehensively. The afternoon game drive will commence at 15:30 and continue until 18:30 time for refreshments, dinner at 19:30 and overnight stay at the camp follow.
Day 3: Transfer to Nairobi City (Lunch)
This day, being the last day of the Kenya safari in this conservancy, you will wake up at 06:00 for coffee
or tea and a snack, then depart for a game drive until full breakfast at 08:00 in the camp. Afterwards,
you will depart for Nairobi city, arriving in time for lunch at Carnivore Restaurant.
Thereafter it will be time to go to The Giraffe Centre in Lang'ata. It is a wildlife conservation facility
dedicated to protecting the endangered Rothschild's giraffe, which is native to the grasslands of East
Africa. It was founded in 1979 by Jock Leslie Melville and his wife Betty, who started a breeding program
by capturing two baby giraffes on their property. The center aims to conserve the species through
breeding and reintroduction efforts into Kenyan national parks and conservancies. In addition to giraffe
conservation, the center serves as an environmental education hub, especially for Kenyan school
children, teaching them about wildlife and environmental stewardship. Visitors can feed giraffes from an
observation platform and explore a nature trail sanctuary with various bird species and smaller animals.
The center also raises awareness and funds through visitor activities, donations, and a gift shop,
supporting broader conservation initiatives.
Overall, the Giraffe Centre's main work is carrying out environmental conservation initiatives focused on
endangered giraffes while educating the public and promoting sustainable interaction with wildlife and
the environment
Finally you will be dropped off at your preferred hotel, airport, or train terminal in Nairobi City.
End of this Kenya safari
Leg of lamb, pork, ostrich, rump of beef, sirloin, rack of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, skewered kidneys, even crocodile
Meats are roasted on traditional maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit that dominates the restaurant's entrance. The rough-hewn beams combine the rustic feel of a rural setting with that of a medieval banqueting hall.
The Carnivore doesn't conform to the familiar restaurant traditions. First, the soup of the day along with a plate of home baked bworn bread and butter are served. Then, an army of carvers move table to table, swords laden carving juicy cuts onto sizzling cast-iron plates. Accompanying the meat feast is a selection of salads, vegetable side dishes and sauces
The feeding frenzy doesn't stop until you declare defeat by lowering the white paper flag perched atop the central tray. This is then followed by dessert and coffee. The full meal including the soup course is at a set price. A vegetarian menu is also offered.
Experience the house cocktail, the 'dawa' - medicine or magic potion in swahili. Based on a famous Brazilian drink, enjoy it delivered on a portable tray by the medicine man fittingly named Dr. Dawa
